Welcome to Eugene
This platform is designed to assist undergraduate psychology majors at Appalachian State University in discovering the occupations and careers available upon completing a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
The idea of the platform is relatively straightforward- college students acquire a number of work-ready knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) in their classes that allow them to successfully complete many work activities on the job. The goal is to help psychology students at Appalachian State understand how these KSAs can be used in jobs that they could be qualified to apply for after graduation.
After you enter the core Psychology major classes at Appalachian State you have or will have taken, Eugene will generate a list of “Acquired Work Competencies” with corresponding scores will appear, which represent each the expected level of competency acquired through those classes for each corresponding knowledge, skill, ability, and work activity.
Eugene will then identify several categories of jobs based on the work competencies you have or will have acquired throughout your psychology courses. These job categories include jobs for which you are likely qualified, jobs that you may be qualified for by obtaining some supplemental knowledge or experience, and jobs that require extensive work experience and/or a postgraduate education.
Eugene is intended to help with your career exploration regardless of which post-graduation path you are intending to pursue.
